The Spruce Lodge Family Council is a committee that is in place, in accordance with the Long-Term Care Act, to act as a channel of communication between families, friends or persons of importance and the Administration.
It is an organized, self-led, self-determining, democratic group composed of family, friends and persons of importance for the residents of the home. The main purpose of Family Council is improving the quality of life of Long-Term Care residents and to give families, friends and persons of importance a forum for sharing their experiences, learning and exchanging information.
The Spruce Lodge Family Council, with the support of the Family Councils of Ontario, is committed to cultivating positive relationships with Administration and staff. Our mission is to work alongside Administration to assist in providing the highest quality of life for our loved ones. Our goal is to strive for a safe, enriching and home-like environment where every long-term care resident has an ability to enjoy life, and pursue the relationships, activities and interests that are meaningful.

There are many departments at Spruce Lodge that are required to manage and support an environment that is resident-directed. Family Council works closely with,

- Housekeeping & Laundry Manager

Join us at the monthly meetings which are normally held the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise decided by members. The meetings start in September and go through to June. We do not meet in December, July or August. The dates and times will be posted at the front entrance of Spruce Lodge or on the Spruce Lodge website under Family Council.
